    Belgium 2019: 100th Birthday of Briek Schotte

    On 7 September 1919, Albéric "Briek" Schotte was born in Kanegem. He was a successful Belgian cyclist and after his career, he was active as a team leader for over 30 years. By winning the Tour of Flanders twice and becoming world champion just as many times, he was given the nicknames Iron Briek and the Last Flandrien. His final resting place is Waregem, the city where he was also an honorary citizen.This silver 10 euro coin appears especially in honor of the 100th birthday of Albéric "Briek" Schotte.
